Wayne Mardle's Thursday Preview

BETFAIR ambassador Wayne Mardle takes a look at the remaining four games in the second round of Betfair World Matchplay on Thursday night...

Andy Hamilton v Mark Webster
This really could go all the way. The two players are very similar in make up, both very steady but capable of flashes of brilliance.

There's not much in it, as the betting confirms with Hamilton a 1.8 favourite, and I think the market has it right. When two players are closely matched, it make sense to back the player with most confidence.

And that player is The Hammer, Andy Hamilton, who could wear Mark down with his constant battering of the treble 20 bed. My bet here is Hamilton to win.

Wes Newton v Justin Pipe
Another game that could be a long, drawn-out affair. Both players are on the upgrade and in my opinion both have the game to win a televised major very soon. Maybe even this week.

The market makes Newton the 1.71 favourite but I can't pick between the two. What I do think it that there will be 180s, that's for sure.
Match Betting

Phil Taylor v Ian White
Ian white is a very good player, he beat a quality thrower in Vincent Van Der Voort in the first round with a 95 average, but playing The Power is a different task entirely.

Phil came through a difficult game against Mervyn King. I think that will stand him in good stead and he will come on for that. Back Taylor on the handicap - he should dominate this.
Match Betting

Dean Winstanley v Ronnie Baxter
This is a gambler's nightmare. Leave the result alone. It's just too close to call.

Both players hit plenty of 180s in the opening games against Anderson and Chisnall and I can see more of the same again as I think it will go a long way.
