PLAYERS from Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Spain and Hungary secured places in next weekend's HappyBet European Darts Trophy in Muelheim at the European Qualifier.
The European Qualifier was held alongside the International Darts Open's qualifiers at the Sachsenarena in Riesa on Thursday night, giving eight places in the PDC European Tour event from September 9-11.
Dutch star Vincent van der Voort headed the field of qualifiers as he defeated Christian Godl and Tony West to secure his place alongside fellow Dutchmen Jermaine Wattimena and Vincent Kamphuis.
Ronny Huybrechts and Dimitri Van den Bergh join seeded ace Kim Huybrechts as a trio of Belgians who will compete at the RWE Arena in Muelheim, while Spain's Cristo Reyes denied Greek ace John Michael a spot in the event when he won their decider 6-2.
Austrian ace Zoran Lerchbacher defeated Roxy-James Rodriguez, Antonio Alcinas and Dirk van Duijvenbode to win his spot alongside Hungary's Janos Vegso, who overcame Rowby-John Rodriguez in his decider as he secured a European Tour debut.
Vegso will become the first Hungarian to appear on the European Tour, with experienced Nandor Bezzeg never previously having won through the qualifiers.
The UK Qualifier had previously produced 20 qualifiers, with the field to be finalised on Thursday September 8 in Muelheim at the Host Nation Qualifier.
