THE field for the 2011 Championship League Darts will be confirmed following August's Players Championship events in Canada.
The internet-streamed tournament will be played across nine days at Crondon Park GC in Essex, with eight groups of eight players eventually producing the competitors for the decisive Winners Group.
This year's event will be played on the following days:
Group One - Tuesday September 27
Group Two - Wednesday September 28
Group Three - Thursday September 29
Group Four - Tuesday October 11
Group Five - Wednesday October 12
Group Six - Thursday October 13
Group Seven - Tuesday October 18
Group Eight - Wednesday October 19
Winners Group - Thursday October 20
Players are invited to compete in order of their ranking in the PDC Order of Merit, with the top eight players as at August 29 2011 invited to compete in Group One.
All eight players meet once in the league phase before the top four contest the semi-finals and final.
The winner will progress to the Winners Group, with the bottom two players eliminated from the event. The next three players in the Order of Merit are invited to compete in Group Two, when the process is repeated.
Should all players accept their invitation to play, the top 29 players in the PDC Order of Merit would compete in the tournament during the course of the nine days.
Prize money is set at £50 per leg won in the Group Stage and £100 per leg won in the Play-Offs in Groups 1-8, with prize money in the Winners Group doubling to £100 per leg in the Group Stage and £200 per leg in the Play-Offs, in addition to the prize money on offer for the semi-finalists.
James Wade won the 2010 title, defeating 2008 winner Phil Taylor in the final and succeeding Colin Osborne as the champion from the event.
