Anderson Enjoying Taylor Tussle

GARY ANDERSON admits he is relishing his current duel with Phil Taylor as he bids to take the 888.com Premier League Darts title from the world number one.

The Scot sits second behind Taylor in the Premier League Darts table at present, and the pair are being widely tipped to meet in the final on May 19 at Wembley.

That would be the third time in the past year they have met in a major final - with Taylor winning in both the 2010 UK Open and 2011 Players Championship Finals deciders - as they continue to build a new darting rivalry.

While Anderson has not defeated Taylor on television since winning the World Darts Trophy final in 2007, he has taken victory twice in the last three weeks in Speedy Hire UK Open Qualifiers against the Stoke great and believes he can transfer that to the big stage.

"I am not scared of Phil," said Anderson, who has joined Taylor as part of Team Unicorn after signing a sponsorship deal with Unicorn. "I have the ability to beat him.

"Phil sets the benchmark year after year and to beat him on the way to winning a big tournament is a goal that I have set myself.

"I have the utmost respect off the oche for Phil and for what he has done for the sport, but I can't afford to show any respect to him or any other player when I am up on that stage."
