Worldwide Interest For Charity Event

THE Bird Island Research Station in Antarctic will be taking part in Thursday's DEAFinitely Darts event.

The Bird Island Research Station is based at the north-west tip of South Georgia in the South Atlantic Ocean and is one of the world's richest wildlife centres.

However, staff based at the island's Research Station share their love of the local birds (below) and seals with playing darts - and they will take part on Thursday in the DEAFinitely Darts charity event.

The DEAFinitely Darts event, being staged by the PDC's official charity, SignHealth, is attempting to create a world record for the largest number of people playing darts at the same time from 7pm-11pm, whilst also raising money for the charity.

Canadian player Wayne Jenkins will be participating in Aurora, Ontario, while the hundreds of pubs and clubs around the UK will also include the Baltasound Hotel in Unst, in the Shetland Islands, which will be the most northerly venue.

Football clubs Harrow Borough FC and Wymondham FC in Norfolk will be taking part, and Hednesford Valley High School in Staffordshire will have two teams participating in the event.
