TICKET SALES for PDC tournaments continue to boom, with the PDC Premier League Darts proving more popular than ever since tickets were launched last week.
Over 70,000 fans attended this year's Premier League, which sees eight top stars battling for more than three months to claim the prestigious title and was won in spectacular fashion by Phil Taylor, who hit two nine-dart finishes in the final against James Wade.
Next year's event will begin on February 10 at The O2 in London and travel around the UK over 15 successive Thursdays.
Tickets went on general sale on October 11, and over 40,000 tickets have already been snapped up by fans keen to see the sport's top stars live in action.
The boom in Premier League Darts ticket sales follows increased advance sales for next month's Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton and December's Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace.
"Given the current difficult economic times and with other sports reporting a drop in attendances, it's amazing that darts is bucking this trend in such a way," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.
"We've actually seen a rise in attendances this year and with Premier League Darts tickets for next year already proving so popular it shows that PDC events are providing great entertainment and value for money.
"Darts is the sport of the people, played by characters who fans around the country can connect with, and who know how to entertain on the biggest stages of all with high-quality darts."
