THE battle to avoid elimination from the 2016 Betway Premier League will face a key night at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Thursday.
With just two weeks remaining before the Premier League's bottom two players are eliminated, Night Eight in Liverpool will feature five games which will all have an impact in the lower half of the table.
Robert Thornton currently sits at the foot of the Premier League table with only one point - but having missed Night Two through illness will play twice in Liverpool to make up his game in hand.
Dave Chisnall and Michael Smith sit two points above Thornton with just three points from seven matches, while Raymond van Barneveld's fine win against Chisnall last week has given him a three-point buffer.
Thornton will play Smith in his opening game in Liverpool before returning later in the evening to meet world number one Michael van Gerwen on a night which will be key in the outcome of his Premier League challenge.
Chisnall takes on World Champion Gary Anderson in another huge contest, knowing that a win could ease his position going into next week's Judgement Night in Cardiff.
Peter Wright, meanwhile, is all but safe as he goes into his clash with Phil Taylor in Liverpool, while van Barneveld meets Lewis knowing that he could be safe from the elimination battle when he leaves the Echo Arena.
