GLEN POWER stepped up the challenge to Simon Whitlock in the Australian Grand Prix by winning the weekend's event at Punchbowl.
Power moved onto 48 points in second place in the AGP standings behind Whitlock in the bid to win a place in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.
Whitlock missed the event, opting to have a rest weekend ahead of the forthcoming William Cross Pro-Am in Sydney - which will feature Stan James World Matchplay champion James Wade as well as John Part, Andy Jenkins and Richie Burnett.
Power defeated Dave Fitzpatrick in the final of the Punchbowl Ex-Servicemens Club event, with Peter Corcoran and John Bunyard reaching the semi-finals.
The top eight players in the AGP rankings qualify by right for the William Cross Pro-Am, with Steve MacArthur and former AGP winner Brian Roach looking almost certain to hold onto their positions in the top four.
Five players are battling for the remaining spots, including two-time Ladbrokes.com World Championship qualifier Barry Jouannet.
