RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD defeated Colin Lloyd 2-1 in the final of the UK Open Irish Regional Final on Sunday at the Citywest Hotel.
Van Barneveld claimed his second Regional Final win inside seven months with the triumph on a quality day of darts.
The defending UK Open champion missed double 12 for a nine-darter during the earlier rounds, while Lloyd inflicted Phil Taylor's first defeat since the start of July with a 5-2 quarter-final victory.
Roland Scholten's run to the semi-finals hauled him up the rankings into one of the six automatic Holsten Premier League Darts places, which will be decided following the SkyBet World Grand Prix.
Andy Jenkins joined Ronnie Baxter a point behind Scholten in that particular race with another good display.
The day, however, belonged to van Barneveld, who followed up a quarter-final appearance in Saturday's PDPA Players Championship by taking the £4,000 first prize.
Although Lloyd opened the final with a maximum and took the first leg, three in a row from the Dutchman - including a 180 of his own and a 160 finish to break his opponent's throw - put him a set up.
Lloyd broke back immediately to lead in the second set, and punished missed doubles to go 2-0 up.
Van Barneveld won the third leg but even a maximum in the fourth failed to prevent a Lloyd 14-darter levelling matters.
Crucially, Lloyd let the opening leg of the deciding set slip when he missed four darts to go in front before van Barneveld took out a superb 144 checkout.
A two-dart 52 finish put van Barneveld 2-0 up, and another 180 helped him to take the third leg and the match, with double six.
