Final Rileys Qualifiers Win UK Open Spots

THE final 13 Rileys Amateur Qualifiers have secured their places in next month's Coral UK Open following the last weekend of knockouts in Rileys Sports Bars.

A total of 32 Rileys Amateur Qualifiers will compete in the Coral UK Open Televised Finals, where they join 96 professional qualifiers in competing at the Butlins Minehead Resort, live on ITV4.

The fifth weekend of knockouts in Rileys Sports Bars was kicked off at London Victoria on Friday as a bumper field of entries saw Alex Roy and John Scott win through.

Both players have previously played in the UK Open during their time on the professional circuit, with Roy reaching the quarter-finals in 2005 and 2006.

Saturday saw Edinburgh's Andrew Davidson win through the Greenock Qualifier with a 5-0 defeat of Graham McEachnie in the final.

Hastings-based electrician Rob Cross won through at Rileys Norwich, Bradford's Les Delderfield took victory in the Rileys Liverpool knockout and bricklayer Mark Wilson won through in his home town at the Rileys Nottingham event.

Two players qualified from the Rileys Wolverhampton event, with Scottish-born Glen McGrandle and Aylesbury's Andy Brown - previously a UK Open qualifier in 2012 - sealing their spots in Minehead.

Sunday saw the final five Rileys Amateur Qualifiers held, with Braintree's Barry Lynn winning through at South Benfleet, Ben Green winning the Rileys Worcester knockout, Jason Heaver taking victory in Solihull and Lee Grimshaw taking victory at Rileys Chorlton.

Another former professional, Steve Maish, won through the Rileys Chester knockout as he secured his 12th UK Open appearance, having previously reached the last 32 on three occasions.

The Rileys Amateur Qualifiers join the top 96 professionals, following their six Coral UK Open Qualifiers, in the draw for the Televised Finals, which will be made on Monday and displayed at www.pdc.tv.
