TEENAGE talent James Beeton was the winner of the first Junior Darts Corporation Modus UK Tour event of 2017.
The 13-year-old from Chester defeated Jarred Cole 5-4 in a tight final at the George Albert Hotel in Evershot, earning himself status as the first JDC Allstar of the year as well as taking a £150 first prize.
Beeton also becomes the first qualifier for the inaugural WDS Associates World Junior Darts Championship in December following the success, as he held off Cole's fightback from 2-0 down in the final to edge a deciding leg.
The day also saw JDC Ambassador Simon Whitlock, the Australian star and former European Championship winner, in attendance as he spent time mentoring young prospects in the event.
"It's been a pleasure," said Whitlock. "I remember when I was a kid I really valued the advice of senior players and I have never forgotten those early days in my career.
"The talent on show here was exceptional and I am glad to be a part of it."
The next JDC Modus UK Tour event will be held on April 8 at the Cueball Club in Derby.
