THE Professional Darts Corporation is saddened to learn that former PDC Unicorn Women's World Champion Stacy Bromberg has passed away.
The 60-year-old American has competed worldwide for over 20 years and was a popular member of the darting community.
Stacy won the Women's Las Vegas Desert Classic event back in 2003, defeating Deta Hedman in the final, and went on to become the PDC Unicorn Women's World Champion in 2010, defeating Tricia Wright in the final on stage at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
Stacy also competed in the 2010 Grand Slam of Darts and on the PDC circuit in the early part of 2011, and was also the winner of the WDF Women's World Cup Singles event and many more domestic titles during her distinguished career.
"This is very sad news and all of us at the Professional Darts Corporation send our condolences to Stacy's family and friends at this difficult time," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.
"Stacy was a wonderful ambassador for darts and a lovely person whose dignity whilst battling cancer and selflessness in raising huge sums of money for the Make-A-Wish foundation was boundless.
"She was a larger-than-life character and will be missed by so many people."
