Charity Bonus For Anderson's Nine-Darter

GARY ANDERSON'S sensational nine-dart finish in the William Hill World Darts Championship will see the Donna Louise Children's Hospice benefit from a £9,000 donation.

Tournament sponsors William Hill will donate £9,000 to the PDC's official charity following Anderson's perfect leg as he swept aside Jelle Klaasen in straight sets to reach the Alexandra Palace final.

Anderson secured the opening set of the contest in amazing style as he hit two 180s and finished 141 to bring a sell-out 3,000 crowd - including One Direction's Niall Horan, comedian Jack Whitehall and Ryder Cup hero Jamie Donaldson - to their feet.

While Anderson put himself in line for a £15,000 bonus - should Adrian Lewis not match his feat to claim a share of the prize in Sunday's final - the achievement also sees the PDC's official charity benefit from a special donation.

"It's great to hit the nine-dart finish - especially because I was one of the guys who'd missed it earlier on!" said Anderson.

"I'm delighted for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice because they're a fantastic charity and this will be a lovely start to the New Year for them."

Sponsors William Hill pledged a £9,000 donation per nine-dart finish to the Donna Louise Children's Hospice - with four players having missed the final double to achieve a perfect leg earlier in this event.

"It took until the semi-finals to get a nine-darter, but it was worth the wait," said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny.

"We're delighted for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice to receive this donation. They do brilliant work and we hope our donation helps make some difference."

William Hill offer odds of 5/1 for a nine-darter in Sunday's William Hill World Darts Championship final between Adrian Lewis and Gary Anderson - with Lewis having achieved the feat when they met in the decider at Ally Pally five years ago.

The Donna Louise Children's Hospice is based in Stoke and provides care and support services for children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Staffordshire and Cheshire. For more information or to donate, visit www.donnalouisetrust.org.
