NOW TV Perform Movie Makeover!

STARS of the William Hill World Darts Championship have been transformed into some of cinema's most iconic characters for a special limited-edition calendar to coincide with NOW TV's coverage of the Alexandra Palace tournament.

NOW TV, the online streaming service, will allow fans to watch the World Darts Championship live on the Sky Sports Darts channel contract-free for just £10.99 per week.

To celebrate their coverage of darts' biggest tournament, the NOW TV Men of Darts 2016 Calendar sees some of the sport's best-known players undergo a striking makeover to put their unique stamp on some of Hollywood's most recognised movies.

Kicking off the year, January sees Phil Taylor, often referred to as 'The Don of Darts', slip into his smoothest dinner suit to reimagine Vito Corleone's iconic pose in The Godfather.

Taylor also teams up with rival Michael van Gerwen in a head-to-head special that's a play on the image of 1997's blockbuster Face/Off for the month of July.

James Wade takes on the pivotal Terminator in February before sweeping wife Sammi off her feet in a pose influenced by Zack Mayo and Paula Pokrifki in An Officer and a Gentleman for August.

Reigning World Champion Gary Anderson channels everyone's favourite action heroes as he steps into the shoes of Indiana Jones in March, before paying homage to 80s heartthrob Maverick in Top Gun for October.

Elsewhere, 2014 World Championship finalist Peter Wright, famed for his flamboyant Mohawk hairstyle, undergoes the most drastic makeovers for April and November, as he gives a nod to virtually immortal superhero Wolverine from X-Men before drawing inspiration from the lovable rogue that is Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Other highlights include May, where Raymond van Barneveld takes cues from Rocky Balboa, June where two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis takes on NYPD's rough and ready heartthrob John McClane in Die Hard, before swapping McClane for Neo in sci-fi favourite The Matrix in September.

Saving the best until last, December sees Anderson, Wade, Lewis, van Gerwen and Wright unite for one final group shot, giving a very special nod to 1995's thriller The Usual Suspects.

Gidon Katz, Director of NOW TV said: "We know the World Darts Championship is a favourite amongst both sports and non-sports fans, and dressing up to attend  Ally Pally is all part of the experience.

"With that in mind, we wanted to create a calendar with some of the best known players that celebrated this staple sports event, while also making it available to view contract-free on NOW TV for £10.99 a week."

Fans can get their hands on a NOW TV Men of Darts Calendar either at the tournament, where a limited number will be given away, or on Twitter via @NOWTVSport.
