CODY HARRIS held his nerve to come through a five-set thriller with Martin Schindler in round one of the 2018/19 William Hill World Darts Championship.
New Zealander Harris, who moved over to the UK to compete on the PDC circuit this year, took the opening set 3-1 before a magnificent 95 finish from Schindler saw him take the second set 3-1.
A strong third set from Harris saw him regain the lead, but Schindler refused to buckle and the young German found double five with his last dart in hand to take the match to a deciding set.
Harris landed an 85 finish to move within a leg of victory at 2-1 and then wrapped it up with a magnificent 104 finish to advance to the second round where he will take on last year's semi-finalist Jamie Lewis.
