Bennett Secures Second JDC Title of 2019

Junior Darts Corporation (PDC)

LEIGHTON BENNETT secured his second Junior Darts Corporation title win of the season in Dorchester, while James Beeton also enjoyed a victory at the George Albert Hotel.

Bennett and Harry Gregory were triumphant last time out in Wolverhampton, and the Lincoln thrower doubled his tally with a second JDC Scott Farms International Tour win of his season.

Bennett was dominant as he took the inaugural event of the season in January, and he continued to stamp his authority on the JDC in another excellent performance.

The 13-year-old dropped just two legs en route to his outstanding victory over Brad Phillips in the final.

A 90-plus average in his semi-final win over Buster Turner put him into the final, before a resurgent Phillips failed to produce his best darts when it came to the crunch, with Bennett going top of the order of merit in the process.

In the second event of the day, Chester’s James Beeton recorded his first victory on the JDC Tour for 18 months.

Beeton was crowned a JDC All Star back in 2017, and his return to form signals his intent to return to the summit of the JDC tour.

Beeton was pushed all the way by Connor Pickett and Taylor Smoldon in the opening rounds but showed terrific determination to pull himself into the last 16.

Wins over previous tour finalists Nathan Care and Keelan Kay confirmed his place in the final alongside first-time finalist Jack Male.

Beeton produced his best performance of the weekend with an 87 average, and his consistency on the outer ring sealed the title in Dorchester with checkouts of 81 and 130.

Earlier in the afternoon, JDC World Championship finalist Lennon Cradock defeated Leighton Bennett in the final 32, before going on to reach a second semi-final of the season, placing him fourth on the order of merit as the year begins to take shape.

The Scott Farms International Junior Darts Tour returns on March 16 at Riley’s Solihull as the world’s best junior players battle it out to reach September’s World Championships Final in Gibraltar.
