MICK McGOWAN and Tom Biggane will contest the final of the Tom Kirby Memorial Irish Matchplay Championship at the Citywest Hotel on Saturday October 10, as they play off for a place in the William Hill World Darts Championship.
The pair came through the field of players from both Ireland and Northern Ireland at O'Shea's Hotel in Tramore on Saturday September 19 when the early rounds of the prestigious event - named in honour of the former Irish professional - were held.
McGowan overcame former Irish Matchplay runner-up Campbell Jackson in the event's last 16 before then defeating John O'Shea and PDC Unicorn Youth Tour player Jack Faragher to reach the decider.
Biggane, from Newmarket, County Cork, won through to compete on the big stage for the first time as he defeated Philip Kelliher, Mark Cullen and Damien O'Driscoll in the later rounds.
The duo will now contest the final of the event on stage at the Citywest Hotel on Saturday October 10 ahead of the partypoker.com World Grand Prix final, with the best of 11 leg contest seeing the winner take the trophy and claim a place in the World Championship.
McGowan is a two-time World Championship competitor from his eight years on the PDC circuit, which also saw him claim two ranking titles in 2006 , qualify for seven UK Opens and appear three times at the Citywest in the World Grand Prix.
The weekend's Tramore Autumn Festival concluded on Sunday when O'Driscoll won the Mens Singles title.
