THE draw has been made for the European Darts Trophy ahead of this weekend's PDC European Tour event in Muelheim, Germany.
The £115,000 tournament will feature 48 players competing at the RWE Sporthalle from Friday September 11-Sunday September 13, with the action being streamed live online through www.LIVEPDC.TV and a series of bookmakers' websites.
The European Darts Trophy will kick off with the first round on Friday, which features the 32 qualifiers competing across two sessions before the 16 seeded players enter the fray in Saturday's second round.
World number one Michael van Gerwen will begin his bid to win a fifth European Tour title of the year against either Adam Hunt, the emerging British ace, or Poland's Krzysztof Ratajski, who won through Thursday's European Qualifier in Muelheim.
Michael Smith, who won a European Tour event in Riesa in June, takes on either Wes Newton or newcomer Chris Dobey, while July's European Darts Open winner Robert Thornton faces one of two Dutchmen who qualified on Thursday, Christian Kist or Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld was the biggest name to win through the European Qualifier, and he now progresses to face Germany's Max Hopp.
Austrian ace Mensur Suljovic meets Germany's Christian Soethe, with the other Host Nation Qualifiers, Jyhan Artut and Martin Schindler, taking on Jason Lovett and James Wilson respectively.
Other tasty first round ties include Stephen Bunting up against Mark Barilli, Kevin Painter's clash with Alan Norris and Gerwyn Price taking on Andy Jenkins, while former World Youth Champion James Hubbard plays Austrian youngster Rowby-John Rodriguez.
Former World Championship finalist Mark Dudbridge meets Darren Johnson, with the winner progressing to play James Wade in the first round, while David Pallett or Steve West will take on Terry Jenkins and Daryl Gurney plays Mark Frost to earn a tie with Mervyn King.
Former European Tour winner Wes Newton opens up against Chris Dobey, while Ireland's Connie Finnan will meet Spain's Cristo Reyes and Holland's Jan Dekker faces Scotland's Jamie Bain.
