Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price resume their rivalry on the Unibet Premier League stage on Thursday.
The pair have enjoyed a host of big-stage clashes in recent times, with Price's victory in the Grand Slam of Darts semi-finals in November being avenged by wins for Van Gerwen in two Minehead finals since.
Van Gerwen won 11-9 in both the Players Championship Finals and UK Open deciders, with the latter coming on Sunday in another thrilling contest.
"When Gerwyn is on his game, he's a phenomenal player," said Van Gerwen. "He's going to win more tournaments in the future - it was my turn on Sunday."
Van Gerwen was defeated by Michael Smith in the Premier League a week ago, and is in confident mood as he looks to continue his run of form which included a nine-darter at the UK Open.
"I feel good," said the world number one. "I had to work hard at the weekend and it gives me great confidence.
"I'm in good form and I want to continue this now. I feel hungry now and I want to win more."
Price, meanwhile, won 8-7 in the final of a Players Championship in Wigan last month, and can move above Van Gerwen in the Premier League table with a win on Thursday.
The world number three produced more consistently high-quality displays in the UK Open as he reached a second final in three years, only to see his doubling desert him at times against Van Gerwen.
"It was a good weekend," he reflected. "I probably dominated the final but just couldn't pin doubles when it really mattered.
"That's the way it goes sometimes - you've got to hit those doubles. If I hit my doubles, I believe I can be the best player in the world, but at the moment that's Michael. We get on really well."
The pair's rivalry has increased in the past 12 months, since Van Gerwen took a 7-2 win when they also met on Night Six of the 2019 Premier League in Nottingham.
Of the nine meetings in that time, only one - the Grand Slam semi-final won 16-12 by Price - has seen a winning margin of greater than two legs, while they also drew in the Premier League in Belfast.
Whilst Price may only have claimed two wins so far in 23 competitive meetings, the gap is certainly narrowing as a genuine new challenger to Van Gerwen confirms his status amongst the sport's elite.
