Artut Tops Home Qualifiers For Dusseldorf

WORLD CUP star Jyhan Artut will top the list of German qualifiers for this weekend’s European Darts Open in Dusseldorf after winning through in Thursday’s Home Nation Qualifier.

Artut booked his place in the tournament with victory over Michael Hurtz, with Michael Rosenauer, Tomas Seyler, Maik Lagendorf and Christian Soethe – who will make his European Tour debut after beating Max Hopp – all also qualifying.

Dutchman Leo Hendriks will be another debutant in Dusseldorf as he beat Ronny Huybrechts and Alexei Kadochnikov in the European Qualifier to set up a first round clash with fellow countryman and qualifier Dirk van Duijvenbode.

The Austrian pairing of Mensur Suljovic and Rowby-John Rodriguez also booked their place in the £115,000 event, with Belgian youngsters Mike De Decker and Dimitri van den Bergh also securing returns to the European Tour.

Rodriguez will face Welshman Barrie Bates in round one, with Suljovic and De Decker facing off against each other and van den Bergh taking on another European Qualifier – former Lakeside Champion Christian Kist – at the Maritim Hotel.

Last weekend’s Players Championship winner Jelle Klaasen was the other European Qualifier and will now play Eddie Dootson in the third game of the afternoon on Friday.
