THE PDC European Tour returns this weekend as 48 players head to Dusseldorf for the 2015 European Darts Open at the Maritim Hotel.
World number one Michael van Gerwen – who saw his unbeaten start to the 2015 European Tour ended last time out in Riesa – will again top the field for the £115,000 tournament.
International Darts Open winner Michael Smith is seeded fourth for the event, with Premier League stars James Wade, Peter Wright, Dave Chisnall and Riesa runner-up Benito van de Pas all also seeded.
The 20 UK Qualifiers secured their place at the tournament in May, with the complete field set to be finalised on Thursday night with the European Qualifier, for eight places, and the Host Nation Qualifier, which will sees five German players win through.
The 32 qualifiers will face off across two sessions on Friday, with the 16 seeded players entering the event in the second round on Saturday.
Sunday will see the third round matches taking place in the afternoon before the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final are all hosted in the day’s evening session.
The draw and schedule of play for the European Darts Open will be available on www.pdc.tv on Thursday evening, along with results from the European Qualifier and Host Nation Qualifier.
Gary Anderson and Keegan Brown have withdrawn from the event through illness. An additional home nation qualifier will now be added taking the number of German qualifiers up to five.
