PHIL TAYLOR claimed victory in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship to take a 13th title with a 7-0 whitewash of Peter Manley.
Taylor took his 11th win at the Circus Tavern, Purfleet with a commanding display to inflict a third defeat on Manley in the final.
Saving arguably his best display of the tournament for Manley, 'The Power' needed less than two hours to see off his opponent and claim the record £100,000 first prize.
Taylor needed only 40 darts to win the opening set, using 14 in each of the first and third legs and landing a maximum checkout of 170 in the second, a 12-darter.
Manley responded with a 141 finish during the second set, but he could not prevent Taylor taking a 2-0 lead by winning the deciding leg.
Taylor opened the third set with a second 12-dart leg, and though Manley pulled back from 2-0 down to level matters the defending champion landed double eight to extend his lead further.
Taylor won the fourth set with a 103 finish and even a 105 checkout from Manley failed to prevent the Stoke superstar moving 5-0 up.
He then went to within one set of the match by taking the sixth set with legs of 14, 11 and 14 darts and then wrapped up an astonishing win by taking the next three legs without reply.
"This has been my dream, to win 13 World Championship titles," said Taylor, who averaged 106.74 for the match and checked out 54% of his doubles.

"It's my lucky number and I was so determined to win this tournament. It's the biggest ever and I'm delighted.
"I was 6-0 up and knew that Peter had a chance to come back so I didn't ease off. His 141 finish shook me a little but I just tried to keep my game solid.
"My average is one of my best ever and I'm still looking to improve. I've got to do everything right now, there is no slacking any more and you've got to be a perfectionist - in your game and your life.
"This is my living and I'll keep going on. I guess 14 will have to be my lucky number now!"
Manley suffered his third defeat in the World Championship final to Taylor, with the whitewash mirroring his 7-0 loss in 2002.
"It was like walking into a brick wall," he conceded. "I've seen Phil for many years, and that's the best I've ever seen him throw.
"Each time I had a finish, I'd like to think I checked out most of the time, but I guess the 141 checkout will be like in a round of golf - you always remember one shot!
"But I just didn't fire. I hit one treble instead of two and he was hitting two consistently. He showed all his class tonight."
Manley, who recently moved house in Carlisle, admitted: "I came into this unprepared and I'm pleased to have reached the final of the biggest World Championship ever."
