Argentina will make their BetVictor World Cup of Darts debut in June, after Jesus Salate and Victor Guillin won through last weekend’s Championship Darts Latin America and Caribbean Qualifier in Panama.
The pair stormed through the two-day event to confirm their qualification for this summer’s showpiece, which will take place at Frankfurt’s Eissporthalle from June 12-15.
Salate and Guillin defeated the Costa Rican pairing of Jason Calderon and Jonathan Quiros in Saturday’s final, celebrating a 7-2 victory to break new ground for Argentina.
This was preceded by a 6-2 success against Guyana’s Norman Madhoo and Sudesh Fitzgerald, who had come through the Latin America and Caribbean Qualifier in each of the last two years.
The Argentinian duo also came through a deciding-leg clash against Bahamas in the quarter-finals, edging out Lorenzo Deveaux and 2024/25 World Championship qualifier Rashad Sweeting in the process.
Nitin Kumar will represent India for a third time at this year’s World Cup of Darts, after winning a trio of qualifying events in Kolkata over the weekend.
Kumar – a two-time World Cup participant in 2014 and 2015 – will compete alongside debutant Mohan Kumar Goel, who made back-to-back finals in Events One and Two.
Elsewhere, Mark Cleaver will partner New Zealand’s number one Haupai Puha in Frankfurt, after securing top spot on the 12-month DPNZ Order of Merit.
Cleaver claimed four DPNZ titles during this period, finishing above Puha’s former teammate Ben Robb to confirm his World Cup debut later this summer.
This coming weekend will see further pairings confirmed via the PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit, as Events 13-16 take place in Kuala Lumpur from May 2-4.
The top two players from Philippines, Japan and Hong Kong following Event 16 will form their pairings, while three other nations will come through Sunday’s Qualifier.
