Ally Pally Treat For Centurion!

THE world's oldest darts fan, 100-year-old Frederick Hunter, enjoyed a memorable afternoon at the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship on Sunday.

Hunter, from Hitchen, had been bought tickets to the tournament at Alexandra Palace by his granddaughters as a present for his 100th birthday earlier in December.

Having enjoyed a pre-event lunch as part of a hospitality package, Hunter was then given a £100 free bet by sponsors Ladbrokes - which he put on Kevin Painter to defeat Paul Nicholson at even money, seeing him pick up a £100 payout!

Painter later made a beeline to meet the centurion after completing his victory, spending time with Hunter before he returned to see Simon Whitlock join Painter and Gary Anderson in enjoying victory in the session.

"Fred has always been a fan of darts, and when we celebrated his 99th birthday last year - spending the night watching darts on TV - he said that he'd love to come to Alexandra Palace one day," said Hunter's granddaughter Katie Devlin.

"He loved meeting Kevin Painter and it was an added bonus for him to win his free bet from Ladbrokes! We had an amazing time and we'll be back next year!"
