SHAUN Griffiths and Richie Corner both sealed maiden PDC titles as they ran out winners in a PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour double-header in Wigan on Sunday.
Griffiths enjoyed a great day at the oche, beating Scott Dale in the final of the first event before reaching the semi-finals of the second, where Corner would eventually take the title after beating Ryan Searle at the Robin Park Tennis Centre.
Griffiths' day began in confident fashion as he defeated Mark Lawrence 5-1 in his first game before then sealing four consecutive 5-2 victories against Robert Pinder, Ricky Sudale, Tony Lincoln and Michael Burgoine as he breezed into the semi-finals.
Another confident display would follow for the 23-year-old as he defeated Darron Brown 5-3 to seal his place in the final against fellow youngster Dale.
Dale's had seen off a number of tough opponents to reach the final two but would be unable to maintain his form in the final as Griffiths ran out a comfortable 5-1 victor to take the £2,000 top prize.
In the day's second event, Corner began in similarly emphatic form to Griffiths as he dropped just one leg in his opening two games, beating John Crossley 5-1 and Dan Read 5-0 before then showing some steel to take back-to-back 5-4 victories against Mike De Decker and John Quantock.
A 5-2 win against Dan Russell and 5-3 success over Will Harwood saw Corner into the semi-finals, where the 52-year-old would enjoy a second whitewash win of the day as he beat Mike Norton 5-0 to set up the final against Searle.
After the pair held throw in the opening two legs, Corner took a decisive break in the third leg to move 2-1 in front and would not look back as he reeled off the next three legs to secure a 5-1 victory and bring a brilliant weekend of PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour action to a close.

Griffiths enjoyed a great day at the oche, beating Scott Dale in the final of the first event before reaching the semi-finals of the second, where Corner would eventually take the title after beating Ryan Searle at the Robin Park Tennis Centre.
Griffiths' day began in confident fashion as he defeated Mark Lawrence 5-1 in his first game before then sealing four consecutive 5-2 victories against Robert Pinder, Ricky Sudale, Tony Lincoln and Michael Burgoine as he breezed into the semi-finals.
Another confident display would follow for the 23-year-old as he defeated Darron Brown 5-3 to seal his place in the final against fellow youngster Dale.
Dale's had seen off a number of tough opponents to reach the final two but would be unable to maintain his form in the final as Griffiths ran out a comfortable 5-1 victor to take the £2,000 top prize.
In the day's second event, Corner began in similarly emphatic form to Griffiths as he dropped just one leg in his opening two games, beating John Crossley 5-1 and Dan Read 5-0 before then showing some steel to take back-to-back 5-4 victories against Mike De Decker and John Quantock.
A 5-2 win against Dan Russell and 5-3 success over Will Harwood saw Corner into the semi-finals, where the 52-year-old would enjoy a second whitewash win of the day as he beat Mike Norton 5-0 to set up the final against Searle.
After the pair held throw in the opening two legs, Corner took a decisive break in the third leg to move 2-1 in front and would not look back as he reeled off the next three legs to secure a 5-1 victory and bring a brilliant weekend of PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour action to a close.
