World Series Boost For Trio

SIMON WHITLOCK and Paul Nicholson will compete in the World Series of Darts treble-header in Australia and New Zealand in August, with Kyle Anderson also invited to compete in the TABtouch Perth Darts Masters.

Former European Championship winner Whitlock and former Players Championship Finals winner Nicholson will team up to represent Australia for a fifth time in the Bwin World Cup of Darts this month in Germany.

They will also play starring roles in the three PDC World Series of Darts which will take place in Perth, Sydney and Auckland later this year as they battle with eight other top stars and a series of local qualifiers.

Each 16-player tournament will feature eight PDC stars, led by world number one Michael van Gerwen - last week's Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters champion - the current PDC World Champion Gary Anderson and the legendary 16-time World Champion Phil Taylor, last year's winner in both Perth and Sydney.

In addition, former World Champions Adrian Lewis, Raymond van Barneveld and Stephen Bunting will be in action, alongside 2015 UK Open finalist Peter Wright and 2014 Masters winner James Wade.

Perth-based star Kyle Anderson, who has also been competing on the PDC circuit for the past 18 months, will join Whitlock and Nicholson as an invited player for the TABtouch Perth Darts Masters.

A further five qualifying places are up for grabs, with the DartPlayers Australia number one, DartPlayers New Zealand number one and a qualifier from the DOSH (Darts of the Southern Hemisphere) organisation to be joined by two players from qualifiers to be held on August 8&9 at the Rendezvous Hotel in Scarborough.

The Sydney Darts Masters will feature two players from the DPA Australian Grand Prix Order of Merit, a leading New Zealander and three players from qualifying events to be held in Warilla from August 17-19.

The Auckland Darts Masters will see the top-ranked players from the DPA and DPNZ joined by four qualifiers from events to be held in New Zealand in the week leading up to the tournament.
