MAIKEL VERBERK was crowned as the 2016 Junior Darts Corporation's Modus UK Tour champion with a 4-0 defeat of Jim Moston in Saturday's final at Alexandra Palace.
The culmination of the year's tournaments on the PDC-affiliated Junior Darts Corporation circuit had seen the six tour events and the inaugural Junior European Championship - which was won by Moston - followed by a Grand Final.
Dutch teenager Verberk, 17, had won through the Grand Final's early rounds in Essex earlier in December to secure his place in the final, and started confidently with a 180 in his opening throw before taking out 105 to win the first leg.
He also punished missed doubles from Stoke's Moston, also 17, to win the second leg against the throw and took the third before hitting another 180 as he secured a whitewash win.
Verberk was presented with a trophy and a £1,000 cheque for the triumph, as he succeeds Josh Richardson as the second JDC UK Tour champion.
"It's a great feeling," said Verberk, a trainee mechanic. "The first experience on the stage was good, I felt pretty comfortable.
"I'm still pretty new and still discovering everything, I'm still 17 and have so many years to go. Michael van Gerwen was one of the first players I saw and I just want to be as good as him."
Junior Darts Corporation chairman Steve Brown added: "It's been a great year. We had six events leading up to this and I think the right two players were in the final and the final was a great experience for both of them.
"This year has seen the inaugural European Championship - Jim was the winner of that - and we're branching out and attracting players such as Maikel, which for us is fantastic."
