BRAD PHILLIPS was the winner of the opening Modus UK Junior Tour Event of 2018, while the Junior Darts Corporation's worldwide growth has continued.
A record entry at the George Albert Hotel in Dorchester - a regular venue on the JDC circuit - saw Phillips become the first player to secure his place in the end-of-season Junior World Championship field as Event One champion.
Phillips dropped just one leg in wins over Harry Robinson and Christian Taylor before being taken to a deciding leg by both Kyle Manton and Freddie Francis as he secured a place in the final.
Jack Seymour shared the first six legs of the final, but Phillips claimed the next two to seal the title.
The JDC's UK Tour season began on the back of the Junior Darts Corporation continuing its worldwide growth, with the recent confirmation of affiliations for Irish Academies based in Dublin and Carlow followed by the launch of JDC Asia.
The JDC Asia venture will be supported by Singapore's Paul Lim as the latest JDC Global Ambassador, and follows the introduction in 2018 of the PDC Asian Tour.
