MERVYN KING came through a tie-break to defeat Jan Dekker 3-2 in the second round of the 2018/19 William Hill World Darts Championship.
The opening leg saw five consecutive breaks of throw, with two-time semi-finalist King finding double eight to take the opening set, before doubling his lead without losing a leg in set two.
Set three went to a deciding leg and, after King missed a chance for a 98 checkout for the match, Dekker took out 100 in two darts to take the match to a deciding set.
With nothing to separate the pair tied at 2-2, the match went to a tie-break, and it was King who grabbed the initiative with a 15-dart break of throw before claiming the win at his ninth match dart attempt to set up a clash with Brendan Dolan in round three.
