Japanese trio Motomu Sakai, Mitsuhiko Tatsunami and Keita Ono claimed PDC Asian Tour titles on home soil last weekend, as Hong Kong’s Man Lok Leung also returned to the winner’s circle.

The year’s second weekend of PDC Asian Tour action saw Events 5-8 take place on April 12-13, as over 130 players battled it out for silverware in Shizuoka.

Sakai kicked off the weekend with Event Five success on Saturday, overturning a 3-0 deficit against Singapore’s darting icon Paul Lim to celebrate his maiden Asian Tour crown.

This was preceded by a thumping semi-final win over his compatriot Tomoya Goto, while he also accounted for Leung and China’s Lihao Wen in the latter stages of the weekend’s curtain-raiser.

Event Six went the way of Tatsunami, who closed out a clinical 5-2 victory against Japan’s former World Cup semi-finalist Seigo Asada to secure the second Asian Tour title of his career.

The 51-year-old earlier averaged 104.68 to account for Akimune Matsuyoshi in a high-quality semi-final, after rallying from 3-1 down to deny Leung in the last eight.

Having twice succumbed to the eventual champion on Saturday, Leung opened Sunday’s double-header with Event Seven glory – sealed with a 5-3 win over Japan’s Ryusei Azemoto.

The former World Championship qualifier landed a brace of ton-plus averages en route to the title, before following up a 126 finish with a 15-darter to see off Azemoto.

Leung claimed a quartet of whitewash wins throughout the campaign, which included a five-leg demolition of China’s premier player Xiaochen Zong in the semi-finals.

However, Leung was denied back-to-back titles by Ono, who won through their deciding-leg tie in the quarter-finals, before sweeping aside Sakai 5-1 to triumph in Event Eight.

Ono averaged 99.33 to wrap up a landmark victory, and he dumped out all three of the weekend’s other winners in the process, having eased past Event Six winner Tatsunami in the semi-finals.

Following the conclusion of Event Eight, the Asian Tour Order of Merit is topped by Event Five runner-up Lim, as the 71-year-old eyes a return to Alexandra Palace later this year.

Leung has catapulted himself up to second above Lourence Ilagan and Sakai, with Alexis Toylo, Tatsunami and Ono leading the chasing pack in fifth, sixth and seventh spots respectively.

The 2025 PDC Asian Tour will continue next month, as Events 9-12 are held on May 3-4 in Kuala Lumpur.

The next weekend of Asian Tour action will also feature the World Cup of Darts Qualifier, and coverage of each event will be shown live on PDCTV from the last 16 onwards.
