BENITO VAN DE PAS edged out Jim Long in a dramatic contest on Friday to reach the third round of the William Hill World Championship.
Dutchman Van de Pas produced a brilliant 150 checkout to win a tie-break after surviving a match dart from the Canadian underdog.
Three-time ProTour title winner Van de Pas had looked to be easing to victory when he won the first two sets, but a 96 checkout sealed the third set for Long.
Long, who knocked out Mickey Mansell in round one, defied finishes of 90 and 72 by his opponent to win the second set 3-2.
After four legs were shared in the deciding set, the match went into a tie-break - and at 3-2 up Long was poised to cause another upset but a dart at double top for the match, before Van de Pas turned it round with his sublime 150 finish.
Van de Pas faces Toni Alcinas in the round of 32.
