THE 2020 Ladbrokes UK Open will feature qualifiers from the PDC Unicorn Development Tour alongside Challenge Tour qualifiers.
The qualifying structure for the UK Open was introduced for the 2019 event, with the 128 PDC Tour Card Holders invited directly into the event alongside 16 qualifiers from the final 2018 Challenge Tour Order of Merit and 16 Rileys Amateur Qualifiers.
Following a review of this year's event with the PDPA, the PDC can now confirm that the 2020 tournament will feature eight qualifiers from the Challenge Tour alongside eight qualifiers from the Development Tour, based on the final 2019 standings.
"The 2019 Ladbrokes UK Open was a huge success and the new format for the tournament proved popular with players and fans," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.
"We saw what some would consider surprise results with six former champions being knocked out on the opening day, and a superb weekend finished with a new PDC champion in Nathan Aspinall.
"The reaction to this year's event has been very positive and we believe that the addition of eight qualifiers from the Development Tour will further enhance next year's Ladbrokes UK Open."
The invitations from the Challenge Tour and Development Tour rankings will be finalised following the 2020 PDC Qualifying Schools, which will see the 128 PDC Tour Card Holders confirmed.
