World Champion Peter Wright is undergoing a gallstones operation on Thursday.
Scottish star Wright has been suffering with a gallstones issue for some time, and withdrew from competing in August's World Series of Darts events in Australia and New Zealand to undergo further treatment.
"Surgery day is here, finally," Wright posted on Twitter. "I'm sorry to all my fans who expected 2 see me in Australia & New Zealand but I had 2 make the choice between my health or the darts, unfortunately for my fans it was my health that won.
"I'm very nervous but I have [wife Jo] by my side as always."
Subject to his recovery from surgery, Wright would be due to return to action in European Tour events in Hungary and Germany in early September ahead of the Jack's World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam later next month.
