Ricardo Pietreczko and Fallon Sherrock were the latest players to secure qualification for the 2023 Grand Slam of Darts following their successes on the European Tour and PDC Women's Series last weekend.
Emerging German star Pietreczko will make his Grand Slam debut next month, while 2021 quarter-finalist Sherrock will return to Wolverhampton following her PDC Women’s Series exploits.
Pietreczko lifted his maiden PDC ranking title at the Interwetten German Darts Championship on Sunday, defeating World Champions Peter Wright and Michael van Gerwen on his way to prevailing on home soil.
The 28-year-old produced a ten-darter to stun Van Gerwen in a dramatic semi-final, before remarkably pinning all eight of his double attempts to deny Wright in a historic decider.
Pietreczko’s triumph earns him a place in the Grand Slam of Darts, alongside Dave Chisnall and Krzysztof Ratajski as European Tour winners who join the finalists from PDC televised events over the past year in qualifying by right.
Sherrock, meanwhile, claimed a hat-trick of titles in the final weekend of 2023 PDC Women’s Series action to overhaul Mikuru Suzuki and qualify via the PDC Women’s Series Order of Merit.
Sherrock trailed Suzuki by £2,200 ahead of last weekend, but her treble triumph during a sensational 29-match winning run saw her finish in second spot in the final standings above the Japanese ace.
She will be joined at the Grand Slam by Women's Series Order of Merit winner Beau Greaves, already assured of a Wolverhampton debut after winning the Betfred Women's World Matchplay.
There are now just 12 places up for grabs at the Grand Slam of Darts, with a further two spots on offer at the Machineseeker European Championship in Dortmund - the final televised event before the qualification cut-off.
The top ranked player from the Winmau Challenge Tour will also qualify for next month’s showpiece, along with the winner of this weekend’s CDC Continental Cup.
There are a further eight places available in November’s Tour Card Holder Qualifier, with a host of high-profile names yet to secure their qualification for the prestigious 32-player event.
Reigning Grand Slam champion Michael Smith will headline this year’s star-studded field, which also includes Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price, both of whom have won a hat-trick of Grand Slam titles.
The 2023 Grand Slam of Darts will take place at the Aldersley Leisure Village from November 11-19, as the sport’s biggest names battle it out for the iconic Eric Bristow Trophy.
