Christian Kist and Alexander Merkx sealed their spots in the 2024/25 Paddy Power World Darts Championship following a dramatic climax to the Winmau Challenge Tour season last weekend.

The Dutch duo sealed their qualification via the Winmau Challenge Tour Order of Merit, after the 2024 season drew to a close at Leicester’s Mattioli Arena on November 2-3.

Connor Scutt and Wesley Plaisier finished first and second respectively on the 2024 Challenge Tour Order of Merit, although both players had already sealed their World Championship qualification via the ProTour Order of Merit.

As a result, there were an additional two spots up for grabs at Alexandra Palace last weekend, and Kist and Merkx profited to confirm their places in the sport’s flagship event.

Kist will make his sixth World Darts Championship appearance following a successful 2024 campaign, scooping a hat-trick of Challenge Tour titles to finish third on the Order of Merit.

Merk, meanwhile, will make his Alexandra Palace debut following a brace of successes in 2024, which saw him finish above Sweden’s Andreas Harrysson and his Dutch compatriot Danny Jansen.
