Luke Littler's amazing 2024 has continued with his nomination for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
The 17-year-old was announced last week as one of the contenders to win the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year, and it has been announced that he is now amongst the nominees for the event's main honour.
Littler has enjoyed an astounding rise to prominence, which began when the 16-year-old World Youth Champion won through to the World Darts Championship final on his Alexandra Palace debut.
Although he lost to Luke Humphries - in a classic contest watched by a record audience on Sky Sports for a non-football event - Littler's rivalry with the World Champion has continued throughout 2024.
Littler overcame Humphries with the aid of a nine-darter to win the Premier League title in May, before taking glory in November's Grand Slam of Darts.
He has won ten titles during 2024 and landed four perfect legs, and risen to fourth on the PDC Order of Merit.
Littler's rivals for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award are Olympic gold medallist Keely Hodkinson, England footballer Jude Bellingham, England cricketer Joe Root, Paralympic cyclist Sarah Storey and Olympic triathlete Alex Yee.
The BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday December 17 from 1900 GMT.
Phil Taylor finished second in the 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards, which marked one of his most successful years on the circuit, having also been nominated four years earlier.
