A darts fan from Switzerland who banked Paddy Power's £60,000 bonus has revealed he'll spend his cash on new windows for his house!

Mauro, a 37-year-old teacher from Switzerland, found himself £60,000 richer on Friday afternoon after Damon Heta's stunning nine-darter at Alexandra Palace.

As part of Paddy Power's The BIGGER 180 campaign at the World Darts Championship, the Irish bookie are paying out a £180,000 bonus for every perfect leg at Alexandra Palace - split between a fan in the crowd, the player who hit it and Prostate Cancer UK.

Paddy Power are also donating £1,000 for every 180 at the tournament, as well as calling on 180,000 men to take Prostate Cancer UK's 30-second online risk checker.

After being chosen by a random roaming camera in the arena, Mauro, a teacher, said: "I don't have any real words, it's just unbelievable.

"I told my friends and family that I'd pay for the whole trip if I won it - and I could never imagine that I actually would! I'm very happy, over the moon.

"It's our third time at Alexandra Palace. We came to watch some football and some darts - it was a nice trip with the lads and all the good stuff and winning it is just amazing, incredible.

"I've just taken over my family's house. We will use the £60,000 to get new windows, it's quite boring but we need stuff for the house!

"I'll also cover every expense for the whole group!"

Heta was millimetres away from throwing a nine-darter in the previous round when he missed the double 12, but he made no mistake this time in the first match after the Christmas break.

He followed up successive 180s with a treble 20 and treble 19 before sending his ninth dart the right side of the wire.

Heta’s feat was the second time a nine-darter has been thrown in this year's tournament and the 16th of all time at the World Championship, following Christian Kist’s effort before Christmas.

Woodhouse took his opponent’s achievement in good spirits, hugging the Australian and raising his arm in the air - before the Englishman fought back to take a 4-3 win.

All proceeds from The BIGGER 180 campaign will support the TRANSFORM Trial, a pioneering study tackling the limitations of current screening methods.

The trial aims to create earlier, more accurate detection methods, saving thousands of lives by ensuring men catch the disease before it’s too late.
