QUALIFIER Gary Welding continued his dream run at the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship with a 4-1 second round win over Erwin Extercatte.
The St Helens thrower knocked world number one Colin Lloyd out of the tournament last week, and added Dutch qualifier Extercatte to his list of scalps as he moved into the last 16.
After sharing the opening two sets with the 24-year-old, Welding once more hit top gear to delight the Circus Tavern crowd.
Number eight seed Andy Jenkins joined the list of big-name casualties when he lost 4-3 to Wolverhampton's Wayne Jones.
Fifth seed Peter Manley held his nerve to withstand Jason Clark's challenge and edge through with a deciding set victory.
The second round had got off to an explosive start, with American John Kuczynski defeating Holland's Jan van der Rassel by the narrowest of margins - winning a sudden death final leg after the pair were tied at 5-5 in the seventh set.
First Round highlights are now available in DartsTV, along with a special package looking back on the upsets so far in the tournament and audio interviews with key players. Highlights of Boxing Day's games will be available from 6pm on Tuesday.
