A PHOTOGRAPH of Phil Taylor taken at the 2005 Stan James World Matchplay has been nominated for Sports Picture of the Year.
The picture was Selected by the Sports Council of England as one of the Sports Pictures of the Year in the "Sports: Specialist" category.
It was taken by the PDC's official photographer Lawrence Lustig at the Winter Gardens last July before Taylor took on Dennis Priestley in round two.
The picture will now form part of an exhibition at the Sports Council before it moves around the country to visit such places as the Houses of Parliament and Lords cricket ground.
"It's a great boost for darts to be exhibited amongst other mainstream sports in this way," said Lustig, who has over 30 years of experience in sports photography.
"The picture captures the passion of Phil and the fans as they await the start of his match and it's an honour to be recognised."
