SIX players have been fined following the latest meeting of the Darts Regulation Authority.
The DRA's Disciplinary Committee met on Thursday March 25 2010 and issued the following penalties:
Mensur Suljovic - fined £100 for failing to mark and fined £400 for acting in a manner which may reasonably be considered to bring the game of darts into disrepute (contrary to Section 4.1 of the DRA Code of Conduct) with his language towards a fellow player at the PDC ProTour events in Germany in March 2010.
Stuart Bousfield - fined £100 for failing to mark at the PDC ProTour events in Germany in March 2010.
Tony Eccles - fined £100 for failing to mark at the PDC ProTour events in Germany in March 2010.
Jann Hoffmann - fined £100 for failing to mark at the PDC ProTour events in Germany in March 2010.
Andree Welge - fined £100 for failing to mark at the PDC ProTour events in Germany in March 2010.
Steve Maish - fined £50 for throwing darts away and causing disruption at the German Darts Championship in November 2009.
In addition, Robert Thornton was given an official warning for behaviour likely to bring the sport of darts into disrepute at the PDC ProTour events in Gibraltar in February 2010.
A DRA statement added:
The DRA Council wishes to remind all players of the revised guidelines for penalties for 'failing to mark' formulated at its meeting on April 17 2009. It is essential for the efficient running of tournaments that players take individual responsibility for their duty to mark. Constant failure to mark games may render a player liable to be charged with bringing the game into disrepute (contrary to Section 4.1 of the Code of Conduct, DRA Rule Book January 2009) and imposition of a suspension from DRA sanctioned tournaments will be seriously considered by the DRA Disciplinary Committee.
The DRA Council increased the penalty guidelines for the offence of failing to mark (effective for offences committed from April 20 2009);
1st Offence - £100
2nd Offence - £200
3rd Offence - £400
4th Offence - consideration of suspension.
