Laursen Takes Lead In Denmark

PER LAURSEN has moved clear at the top of the Danish rankings following his success in the penultimate weekend of qualifiers for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.

Laursen has been locked alongside teenager Vladimir Andersen for much of the year, but has now moved four points clear at the top of the rankings following 13 of the 15 events.

Saturday saw Andersen defeat Laursen in the final of the 12th event, to put him into the lead overnight.

However, the youngster was defeated by Brian Sorensen on Sunday, with Laursen going on to win the event against Soren Beherendsen in the final.

Sorensen was defeated by Beherendsen in the semi-finals on the day.

The final two events will take place on 17 and 18 November, with Laursen sat on 178 points and Anderson on 174.

Laursen's form means he is on course to return to the World Championship, having defeated Colin Monk in round one but lost 4-3 to Dennis Priestley in the last 32.
