Mawson Claims Double Bonus

GARY MAWSON will receive an invitation to the PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts and the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship after finishing at the top of the PDC North American Order of Merit.

Mawson will be joined at Alexandra Palace this December by number two American Ray Carver and leading Canadians Gerry Convery and Dan Olson, following the completion of this year's PDC-ranked events in North America.

Mawson reached the quarter-finals of the Las Vegas Desert Classic in July, and finished the series of events with £6,075.

He will now compete in November's inaugural Grand Slam of Darts at the Wolverhampton Civic, before returning to the UK in December to play in the World Championship.

Mawson previously appeared in the World Championship in 1999 and 2000.

Ray Carver finished second on £4,235, meaning that he earns the second American place in the World Championship ahead of Jim Widmayer, Darin Young and John Kuczynski.

In the Canadian standings, John Part - who is already in the World Championship by virtue of his top 32 ranking - finished at the head of the table, with Gerry Convery and Dan Olson behind him earning an Alexandra Palace place.

Convery will be appearing in the World Championship for a fourth successive year, while Olson will be making his debut in the event this December.
