PAUL NICHOLSON leads the Australian Grand Prix Order of Merit, following his win at the Gaels Club Open on Sunday.
Penrith's Gaels Club hosted two AGP-ranked tournaments over the weekend, with Brian Roach taking the honours in Saturday's first event.
Roach defeated Barry Jouannet 6-2 in the final and also overcame Phil Bottrell 5-1 in the semis.
Nicholson was a semi-final loser to Jouannet on Saturday, but went all the way to take Sunday's $800 first prize.
Nicholson defeated Pete McCorcoran in the semi-finals and was 5-0 up in the final before Bottrell got off the mark, winning two legs before the expatriate former Northumberland County player sealed the win.
Roach was a semi-final victim in Sunday's event, losing to Bottrell.
Top Australian lady Corrinne Hammond and Mitchell Clegg, the teenage Oceanic Masters winner in 2006, were among the last 16 losers on Saturday, while Jouannet was among the casualties at that stage 24 hours later.
The AGP Order of Merit is now headed by Nicholson on $5,900, who has also won in the DPA Australian Matchplay and at Wagga Wagga already this year.
Russell Stewart sits in second place on $4,065, with Bottrell third on $3,000.
