Opening DPA Wins For Trio

COREY CADBY, David Platt and Gordon Mathers shared the spoils on the opening weekend of the 2016 DPA Harrows Australian Grand Prix season with event victories.

The Harrows Australian Grand Prix kicked off with a treble-header at the Chester Hill Hotel in Sydney, with the DPA season set to feature increased three-day weekends during 2016.

Cadby, on his AGP debut, overcame Mike Bonser, Anton Soc, Platt, Mathers and Rhys Mathewson to reach the final before edging out John Weber 6-5 for victory.

Former World Championship qualifier Platt would go all the way 24 hours later, seeing off Brett Brandley, Matthew Francois, Mathers, Lucas Cameron and youngster Harley Kemp, who he defeated 6-2 in the final.

Sunday's third event saw Mathers, a former Sydney Masters qualifier, edge out Cadby 6-2 in the final to deny the youngster a second win of the weekend.

Mathers also defeated Shaun Gibbs, Greg Major, Weber and Platt on his way to the final before scooping the top prize.

The next DPA Harrows Australian Grand Prix weekend will be held from March 4-6 at the SHoppingtown Hotel in Doncaster, Victoria, before the action heads to Perth from March 18-20 at the Wanneroo Hotel.
