DENIS OVENS' run to the final of the PartyPoker.net German Darts Championship has seen him return to the world's top 16.
Ovens prepared for the forthcoming 2008 Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship in style with his performance at the Gerry Weber Centre over the weekend.
He picked up €12,000 (£8,570) for reaching the final, moving him up from 21st in the rankings to 15th with £59,058.
Ovens has jumped above Kevin Painter and Andy Jenkins - his former top ten rivals - as well as Alan Tabern, Mark Dudbridge, Chris Mason and Colin Osborne.
Phil Taylor's triumph in the tournament saw him pick up €25,000 (£17,854) to edge him away from Raymond van Barneveld.
Taylor has now won almost £28,000 in the last three ranking events to prepare him for the World Championship - where he defends £100,000, from being the 2006 champion, on the Order of Merit.
Canada's John Part, who reached the last 16 in Germany, moved back up to tenth place, swapping with Dennis Priestley.
Another development in the Order of Merit sees Dutch teenager Toon Greebe - who has qualified for the World Championship, move into the world's top 100 for the first time in 87th place.
