OVER half of the tickets for the 2009 Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts have now been sold.
Tickets for the tournament, held over 15 nights between February and May in some of the UK's biggest arenas, went on sale in September.
Over 40,000 of the available 77,000 tickets have now been snapped up by fans around the country.
The floor tickets have now completely sold out at the SECC in Glasgow, with only a limited number still available in Liverpool, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Exeter, Nottingham, Sheffield and for the play-offs at Wembley.
The eight competitors for the 2009 Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts will be confirmed following the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, featuring the top six players from the PDC Order of Merit and two wildcard selections.
Phil Taylor will defend his title in the tournament, after claiming a fourth successive victory in May by defeating James Wade in Cardiff.
"There has been huge interest so far in the 2009 Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.
"The reaction of fans around the UK has helped to elevate darts into the UK's biggest indoor sporting event.
"For the players too, this is now a massive tournament to be involved in and there is a great battle underway for the six places - players like Colin Lloyd, Adrian Lewis and Andy Hamilton have all raised their game in a bid to win an automatic spot next year."
