WAYNE MARDLE and Mark Dudbridge will meet for the fourth time in five years in the Stan James World Matchplay on Sunday night.
The duo will clash on the opening night of the tournament on Sunday at the Winter Gardens, in one of three matches as the £300,000 event begins.
Their match is the fourth time they have met since 2004, with Dudbridge taking victory on that day en route to the final.
Mardle has won their two meetings since, taking a 13-10 victory in round two in 2005 and a 10-7 first round win last year.
"I've played Mark a few times over the last couple of years, both in Blackpool and at other events, and I've got the better of him most times," he said.
"The last time he beat me was in Blackpool in 2004 - he played brilliantly that year and reached the final.
"He has been playing well this year, since he's stopped playing around with his darts and flights, and is back concentrating on playing he's done well.
"We seem to bring out the best in each other, and he plays well in Blackpool.
"I think it's a place where we both feel comfortable and I'm hoping it's going to be a good game - but that there's only one winner!"
