PDC Statement: Entry Criteria For Major Tournaments

THE QUALIFICATION process for PDPA members for the Stan James World Matchplay and SkyBet World Grand Prix has been amended.

Following talks with the Professional Dart Players Association, the PDC have moved from knockout qualifiers in 2007 to reward players who perform consistently well on the PDC Pro Tour.

The system will now include all Players Championship events played before the planned cut-off date, as follows:
Stan James World Matchplay
The four PDPA members who are highest in the Players Championship Merit Table following the eight Players Championship tournaments held in 2007 up to, and including, Hayling Island, who are not already in the top 28 of the Order of Merit.

SkyBet World Grand Prix
The four PDPA members who are highest in the Players Championship Merit Table following the 13 Players Championship tournaments held in 2007 up to, and including, Wales in September, who are not already in the top 24 of the Order of Merit.
This event includes the Top 24 players in the PDC Order of Merit, four PDPA Qualifiers and four Irish Qualifiers.

The qualification criteria for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship will remain the same as announced in December 2006 for the 16 places, as follows:

  • The eight PDPA members who are highest in the Players Championship Merit Table following the 19 Players Championship tournaments held in 2007 up to, and including, Lisse in November, who are not already in the top 32 of the Order of Merit.
  • These eight will be joined by eight other PDPA members from a knockout qualifying competition to be staged in November (venue and date TBC).

In addition, from Monday 2 April 2007, under the new Order of Merit system, players must be a member of the Professional Dart Players Association to feature in the Order of Merit.

Prize money won will only count from the date of a player joining the PDPA, and no retrospective prize money will be included in a player's total.
