PDC Statement: Major Tournament Qualifying Criteria

THE PDC wish to clarify the situation of qualifying for major tournaments via the Players Championship Order of Merit.

In consultation with the PDPA, it was agreed that for our overseas PDC Pro Tour events not held in the UK, all non-PDPA members participating would be 'Day Members' of the PDPA, for which they pay an additional entry fee.

This was either by paying £10 (or the local equivalent currency) to enter a qualifier or an additional £10 on top of the £65 entry fee to enter the main draw direct.

This means that any player earning money from a non-UK event would have their prize money counted towards the Order of Merit and Players Championship Order of Merit.

Any player would then have to become a full member of the PDPA if they wished to play in any televised event under PDC rules having qualified through the Players Championship Order of Merit.

In the case of the Ireland Open Classic Players Championship, this was originally planned to be staged outside the UK, before being moved to a venue in Northern Ireland after the venue in Castlebar became unavailable.

The event was still held under the conditions of it being a non-UK tournament, and offered a qualifier for non-members to win a place in the main draw.

As such, for the avoidance of doubt, prize money won by all players in the Ireland Open Classic Players Championship counts on the PDC Order of Merit and the Players Championship Order of Merit.
