PDC World Championship Darts also allows for different game modes to be played, with the sets or legs format also being joined by the more casual "round the clock" game.

Players can either compete as one of the ten PDC stars or create their own player, complete with own coloured darts shirt.

Along with the World Championship format, players can also compete in the World Matchplay, Las Vegas Desert Classic, UK Open and Open Holland.

"This is an exciting development for the PDC and the sport of darts," said PDC Chief Executive Tim Darby.

"The level of interest in darts is at an all-time high and this game gives console players around the world the chance to experience the thrill of playing the sport and seeing it through the eyes of their favourite player."

The full line-up of players is:
Phil Taylor, Colin Lloyd, Peter Manley, Dennis Priestley, Raymond van Barneveld, Alan Warriner-Little, Adrian Lewis, John Part, Wayne Mardle and Mark Dudbridge.

The game is due for general release on 1 December 2006, although fans at the latter stages of the SkyBet World Grand Prix will be able to test out PDC World Championship Darts.

Phil Taylor and Colin Lloyd were joined by Russ Bray and Sid Waddell - who also feature in the game - at a launch in London's Sports Cafe, where they took on media and competition winners on a regular dartboard and at PDC World Championship Darts.

"It's a great game," said Lloyd. "This is a big development for darts and the game looks fantastic.

"I've been playing the game already and I'm hooked, it's very realistic and good fun."
